FAQ: Should I Hire a Second Shooter for My Wedding?- Idaho Wedding Photographer

One of the questions I get asked most…. Is it totally necessary to have a second shooter? The short answer is, no not totally. It’s honestly up to you and what is going to make the most sense for you and your partner. However, there are some really good reasons to have one and some of my favorite photos that would not exist without having an extra set of eyes around!

First Looks

This is the one that excites people the most about having a second photographer there on their wedding day- the first look reactions. When it’s just me I can only catch one reaction but when there are two of us there we’ll get both of your faces!

More Photos and Angles

There are a lot of photographable moments on wedding days- some you might not even think of! Priceless candids of your parents and grandparents, your friends from high school dancing on the dance floor together, you and your partner dancing together, etc.

Peace of Mind

You can definitely relax knowing that EVERYTHING you want captured will be captured! I’ve never had a couple feel like I missed something when it’s just me. However there is something that creates a calm atmosphere when you know that there are two people on it. Not only that but with more photographers come more gear! I show up with my camera all my lenses and my backup camera and lenses, and so will a second shooter. So if (god forbid- this has never ever ever happened to me) my camera fails I have a backup to the backup!
