The Wedding Process- Idaho Wedding Photographer

Hey there! If you’re reading this right now you’ve likely already reached out to me or you’re at least poking around my website trying to get a feel for my work (click here if you want to reach out)! One of my most asked questions is what the process of working with a wedding photographer looks like. It can be daunting so I decided to go ahead and just create a blog post and lay it out for my potential clients and clients!

Step 1: Initial Meet up/Phone Call

If I’m available for your date the first thing I’ll do once you reach out is send you an email with basic information and then we’ll plan a phone call/ Zoom call/ coffee meeting/ or even a beer meeting. Whatever you’re comfortable with! Right now I’m writing this in early 2021 so for right now I’m keeping things to zoom and phone calls. This is where I not only get to know more about you and your partner but you’ll get to know me a little better. It is SO important for you to find a wedding photographer that you feel 100% confident with for your wedding day and this is when you’ll find out whether or not that’s me! We’ll also go over pricing in full detail and I can guide you through each of my packages.

Step 2: Deposit and Contract

Once you’ve decided to book I’ll send you a contract and an invoice that can be signed and paid all online. I have clients put 30% down upfront and then we can get you set up with a payment plan for the rest of the fee or you can pay it all at once right before your wedding day. Once that’s done, you’re all booked!

Step 3: Your Engagement Session

Once you’re officially booked we’ll plan your engagement session! This is the fun part! It’s so much fun to document this time in your lives and you’ll get to know how I work. The easiest way to plan it is to create a Pinterest board of photos you love so I can get the vibe you’re going for and then we pick the location and talk about outfits from there!

Step 4: Wedding Day Questionnaire

This is an important part. About a month from your wedding I’ll send you a little questionnaire to fill out online. It’ll ask important questions to help me plan a timeline for photos. Contact info for your maid of honor/best man or whoever you want to be the point of contact that day, how big your wedding party is, the address of your venue, other vendors you’ve hired, links to Pinterest boards and the timeline of the entire day. This way I have everything in one place and keep things simple!

Step 5: Wedding Photo Timeline

This is a pretty crucial piece of the planning process for me! Once I have the timeline of the day and all of the information from your questionnaire together I’ll create a completely separate photo timeline! If you have a wedding planner I’ll send it to them as well and generally, they merge the two timelines together so that you know exactly what’s going on throughout the day!

Step 6: Wedding Day!

This part is self-explanatory but the fun part! All you have to do is relax while me and my second shooter capture your day and have a good time with you! Click here to find out why you might want to choose a package that includes a second shooter!

Step 8: Editing

When talking to potential wedding photographers always ask them about their editing process and how they keep your photos safe! The FIRST thing I do when I get home is back up your photos on 3 hard drives and in a cloud system so even if my house burns to the ground your photos will survive. Then I’ll pick a few to edit and send that night or the next morning so that you have a photo to share right away! The rest of the editing process takes 3-4 weeks.

Step 7: Gallery Delivery

Once all of your photos are edited I send you a password protected online gallery with web size and full resolution versions of your photos to download into a zip file and do whatever you want with! I don’t do my own printing right now so I’ll also send you reccommendations for where to have your photos printed.

And that’s it! It’s relatively simple and super fun! I can’t wait to work with you- we’re going to have a blast together!
